Menorah, Festival Highlight Jewish Hertiage in Cary

By Kendall Jones

Inside Cary Towne Center, down the hallway from Santa and past all the christmas decorations, a nine-foot Menorah is making history.

It's the first time there is a public display and festival in Cary to celebrate the Jewish holiday Hanukkah.

"The idea of Hanukkah from the beginning was to spread the light," Rabbi Yisroel Cotlar said. "I've already been told about a child going through the mall saying, 'Hey mom hey dad, look! There's a hanukkah menorah over here.'

"That's a powerful experience," Cotlar said.

Rabbi Cotlar is the head of the synagogue Chabad of Cary and is the man behind the display.

He even has a menorah on his car....
